The Russian Academy of Arts: Persons, Events, Facts of History Exhibition in Rome

The Museo di San Salvatore in Lauro in Rome hosts an exhibition “The Russian Academy of Arts: Persons, Events, Facts of History”. The President of the Russian Academy of Arts took part in the opening of the exposition showing three centuries of cultural ties between Russia and Italy through the history of the Russian Academy of Arts.

The year of 2011 is the Year of Russian Culture and Language in Italy and one of the main goals of this show is to emphasize the unique role of Italian culture and the great contribution of Italian architects and artists in the formation of the academic school of fine arts in Russia.

Archive documents, photographs and video materials from the Research Museum and Research Library of the Russian Academy of Arts offer a rare opportunity to appreciate the significance of Italian culture for Russian art. The show also includes works by contemporary artists-members of the Academy.

hroughout its history the Russian Academy of Arts has drawn together not only the best Russian, but also European masters of fine arts. In the 21 century the Academy keeps up the tradition – the President of the Academy of Art in Rome (Accademia di San Luca) Cesare Romiti has been elected an Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts before the inauguration of the above exhibition.
