Galina Vizel is a People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, Professor of the Decorative and Applied Art Department of the Academy of Culture, Arts and Social Technologies in Tyumen. Her original sculptures and ceramics are well-known in this country. Living in the North of Russia she devotes her work to its people, their customs and traditions, creeds and myths.

Decorative compositions executed by Galina Vizel in chamotte and fiancé combine traditions and nowadays, a reality and the artist’s fantasy. One of her favorite themes is “Gods and Ghosts”. Through this cycle of ceramic works she comprehends philosophical and religious beliefs of peoples in the North. The form is generalized into a symbolic sign built on the trinity “man-beast-bird” personifying the eternal cycle of life.

The topic of Christianity has been reflected in her two-figure decorative sculpture “Who will show Him His way?” distinguished by a powerful emotional tension.

Four elements: air; water; fire and clay give the skillful master a possibility to realize the most extraordinary ideas in a simple and ancient material.

Alexander Vizel is an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, associate professor of the Decorative and Applied Art Department of the Academy of Culture, Arts and Social Technologies in Tyumen. An artist of multi-sided talent, he works in various genres and techniques: linocut; etching; watercolor; painting; book illustrations.

Alexander Vizel has always been interested in the historical theme especially its epic events and heroes (“Ermak Timofeevich”, “The Appearance of Russians in the Siberia” and others). His lyrical watercolors are devoted to the beauty and might of the Tyumen region, the charm of monuments of architecture in the Baltic towns, old cities in Middle Asia. Each composition is usually a result of an interesting experience of the artist.
