Russian Winter in Paris: Solo Exhibition of Vasily Nesterenko in France

On display in the Russian Embassy in Paris is a major solo show of paintings by the renowned Russian artist Vasily Nesterenko entitled Russian Winter in Paris, informs ITAR-TASS.

“The solo exhibition of Vasily Nesterenko is being held after the official completion of the Russia-France Culture Cross Year, which was a big success with the public”, noted the Executive Director of the French-Russian Dialogue Association Prince Alexander Trubetskoy. “It is symbolic, that Russian masters are opening the Paris culture season of 2011”.

Among other exhibits the Russian Winter in Paris solo show includes canvases from historical and spiritual cycles that take a special place in the work of Vasily Nesterenko. The centerpiece of the show is a recently executed portrait of the Grand Duke Sergey Alexandrovich, who founded in Russia the Imperial Palestine Orthodox Society, one of the oldest humanitarian organizations.

A graduate of V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute, the Moscow master has been an active exhibitor since 1988. Vasily Nesterenko worked on the wall paintings of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow and interior decoration of the Throne Hall of the Jerusalem Patriarchate. At the age of 40, in 2007 he became the youngest Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts.
