The Gone Epoch: Exhibition of Graphic Works in Krasnoyarsk

On show in the exhibition halls of the Urals, Siberia and Far East regional department of the Russian Academy of Arts in Krasnoyarsk are almost 200 graphic works of the early 1970s – late 1990s from the collection of V. Surikov Krasnoyarsk State Museum of Fine Arts, Divnogorsk Art Museum and holdings of the above regional department.

The exhibition is devoted to the 20th century in Russia that was the time of great changes, revolutions, reforms, wars and victories, big industrial projects and hopes for the happy future. The epoch has gone and there are only reminiscences fading with the lapse of time.

The graphic works perfectly recreate the life at that time. In the 1970s-1980s the graphic art in Krasnoyarsk was at its height. Artists worked in various graphic techniques depicting the history of the region through industrial and lyrical landscapes and portraits of workers and people living in the province. Of major interest are works by noted masters of graphic art such as E.A. Shepelevich, R.K. Ruiga, G.G. Musin, N.I. Rybakov, M.F. Gladunov, O.Y. Elesevich, V.A. Belousov, V.A. Pesegov.
