Solo Show of Works by the People’s Artist of Russia Sergei Andriyaka in the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum

This major retrospective of works by the Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Sergei Andriyaka is being held in the exhibition halls of the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum, as this art school is closely connected with his father – Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Nikolai Andriyaka (1905-1977) who taught at the Lyceum since its foundation in 1939 and was its Director from 1967 till 1977. 

The renowned water-colorist Sergei Andriyaka has started with wet techniques – gouache and tempera, than took interest in oil painting, mosaic, stained glass, etching, enamel, hand painted china. But Sergey Andriyaka’s  true love is water color art. Due to his persistent efforts and searches the artist has revived the classic technique of multilayer water color which again acquired its aesthetic independence. Sergei Andriyaka has changed a condescending attitude to water color drawing and ranked it on a level with painting in importance. One of his favorite themes is Russia; its churches and landscapes; Russian province and corners of old Moscow, still lifes.

Since 1999 Sergei Andriyaka has been an art director of Sergei Andriyaka School of Water Color with a museum and exhibition center. It is the only one of its kind Moscow art school which annually provides an opportunity  for  almost 1000 children and adults to study water color art according to Sergei Andriyaka’s teaching methods.
