Oleg Eremeev is an Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation, Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Professor of I. Repin St. Petersburg State Academy Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, winner of the gold and silver medals of the Russian Academy of Arts, holder of the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Rank, Order of Honor, Order of Friendship. From 1990 till 2001 Oleg Eremeev was a Rector of I. Repin St. Petersburg State Academy Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. At present he heads the Chair in Painting and his personal painting studio.

Oleg Eremeev is a master of many genres: historical painting, landscape, portrait, still life. He has created a portrait gallery of eminent representatives of culture, fine arts, ballet. The portrait of mood gave way to the portrait of character with a flexible array of pictorial approaches in which adherence to the realist traditions is linked with new plastic discoveries. The artist’s manner conveys the specific individuality of the model: from the restrained objectivity in the portrait of Professor I.A. Bartenev, to the accentuated artistry in the figure of the ballet dancer I. Kosheleva.

He paints the past and present day of Russia with the hustle and bustle of today’s everyday life. The landscape is one of the most important trends in his work. His first-hand knowledge of the north-west of Russia, especially the old Pskov land and churches give his lyrical landscapes a special depth and significance.
