Jubilee Exhibition of Works by Dmitry Sandzhiev in the Russian Academy of Arts

Timed to the 60th anniversary of the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Dmitry Sandzhiev, the solo show features over two hundred works of the artist including his recent paintings, drawings and lithographs.

 

Dmitry Sandzhiev was born in 1949 in Novosibirsk. He graduated from V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute and perfected his skills in the Academy workshop under Orest Vereisky.  The artist has a rare gift to show eternal values through ordinary things perfectly combining in his canvases lines and colors thus creating a special spiritual atmosphere.  His graphic art coexists in harmony with his paintings, unpredictable and fantastic. Many of his works have resulted from the artist’s trips to Mexico, Egypt, India and other countries. In the topics of his paintings one can find echoes of  world myths and legends.

 

A few years ago the artist’s polyptych “Cracked Time” devoted to the tragedy on September 11, 2001 was presented as a gift to the USA Congress. 

 

Dmitry Sandzhiev took part in over 150 exhibitions in Russia and other countries. At the Second International Triennale of Graphic Art in Nuremberg (Germany) he was awarded a prestigious prize of Faber Castell company.  At the International Art Exhibition in (China) the artist received a prize for the best exposition.

 

Dmitry Sandzhiev’s works are in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian State Museum,  the State Museum of Oriental Art, Metropolitan Museum (New York, the United States) as well as  in private collections in many countries.
