Studio of Zurab Tsereteli: Solo Exhibition of Works by Zurab Tsereteli at the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg

The State Russian Museum hosts a solo exhibition of works by Zurab Tsereteli, President of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of the USSR and the Russian Federation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. The display entitled Studio of Zurab Tsereteli  is a selection of the best works of various years including the master’s latest canvases.

 

The exhibition has been organized by the State Russian Museum, Peter Ludwig Museum in the Russian Museum and the Russian Academy of Arts.

 

The solo show in the Russian Museum is a rare opportunity to penetrate into the world of the artist’s studio. The exposition partially recreates its interior with  furniture, easels, painter’s cases, books and carpets and gives an idea of the studio’s atmosphere of free self expression and constant creative searches of the artist.

 

Zurab Tsereteli is very prolific both in painting and sculpture. His monuments have found their home in many countries throughout the world. On display at the State Russian Museum (Mikhailovsky Castle) are the artist’s three-dimensional enamels,  color serigraphs, small sculpture, drawings,  portraits of the artist’s friends and beloved ones, canvases devoted to the great artists – Amadeo Modigliani, Niko Pirosmani, Kazemir Malevich, Marc Chagall and others, still lives, decorative compositions  full of pictorial and emotional expression, vigorous  elements of color. 

 

The exhibition explores the rich variety of themes in the work of Zurab Tsereteli from everyday life to the Biblical topics and eternal values of the existence.

 

The wide range of Tsereteli’s creative potential was highly appreciated by St. Petersburg public at the major retrospective of his work in St. Petersburg Manezh exhibition hall in 2005. For the last several years the artist’s solo exhibitions were held in over 30 cities of Russia and other countries.
