Exhibition in Honor of the 5th Anniversary of Yury Orekhov Annual Prize

Sergei T. Konenkov Studio-Museum and the Museum “Creative Legacy of Academician Yuri Orekhov” present an exhibition of works by winners of Yuri Orekhov prize in the field of sculpture  among students of art institutes and lyceums of the Russian Academy of Arts. The exhibition has been timed to the 5th anniversary of the prize named after Yury Orekhov (1927-2001), academician, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, one of the prominent Russian sculptors of the second half of the 20th century. 

 

The Prize was set up in 2005 by the Museum “Creative Legacy of Academician Yury Orekhov” and the “Sculptor” Foundation for Support to Russian Sculptors, under the auspices of the Russian Academy of Arts.  By tradition,  the  Prize in the form of a golden walnut is presented to winners by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts.

 

The works by young sculptors are on display in the context of the permanent exposition of  Sergei T. Konenkov Studio-Museum. The celebrated sculptor, academician Sergei Konenkov (1874-1971) has played a significant role in the formation of the modern Russian sculpture.  The exhibition is aimed at creating a dialogue between the Master and young talents, a dialogue between two epochs.
