Tree of Life: Solo Exhibition of Works by Khamid Savkuev at the Academy Museum in St. Petersburg

The exhibition at the Academy Museum in St. Petersburg features over 60 works by Khamid Savkuev, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of the Kabardin-Balkar Republic. A graduate of I. Repin St. Petersburg State Academy Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, Khamid Savkuev continues the traditions of the Russian academic school and  folk art of his native Kabardin-Balkaria.

 

The majestic nature of the Caucasus, everyday life and customs of this mountain land in Khamid Savkuev’s canvases have turned into epic stories. His monumental wall paintings adorn both public buildings and churches. In 1996 the artist created a panel “Appearance of Ploughmen”  for the Government building in Nalchik. His painting “St. George the Victorious” was obtained for the presidential palace in Catalonia. Khamid Savkuev’s works are in the museum collections in Spain and China, in private collections in Russia, Netherlands, France, Germany, the United States. 

 

Khamid Savkuev is a frequent exhibitor in international group and solo exhibitions. At present he teaches at I. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.
