The Russian Academy of Arts presents works by Yuri Kopeiko, People’s Artist of Russia, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Full Member of K. Tsiolkovsky Academy of Astronautics produced by the painter in the 1970s – 2008.

For many years the artist’s creative work has been connected with the space theme.  He has designed books about Yuri Gagarin, German Titov, Adrian Nikolaev and other Russian spacemen. Well-known are his easel graphic series. Lately, Yuri Kopeiko has been working on canvases in which he figuratively depicts the history of space exploration in this country.

Yuri Kopeiko knows the topic from his own experience. He went to Baikonur space launching site six times and witnessed the launchings of space missiles from a short distance, that is why his works such as “Night Launch”,  “The Flight is Over”, “Let’s Go” look so credible and sincere.

Yuri Kopeiko has created expressive portraits of the first spacemen Yuri Gagarin, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Sergei Korolev and many other scientists who have greatly contributed to the space exploration in Russia.  Several of his canvases have been devoted to 40th anniversary of the first moon flight by the American astronauts.
