Retrospective Show of Works by Boris Kelberer in Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum

Timed to the 70th anniversary of the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum, the exhibition features a retrospective of works by artist Boris Kelberer who taught painting at the Lyceum from 1970 to 1981.

Boris Kelberer was born in 1928 in Moscow in a family closely connected with theatrical  circles. The artist finished the Moscow Art Lyceum (then Moscow Secondary Art School) in 1949, continued his education in V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute which he graduated from in 1955 (G.G. Ryazhski art studio). In 1960 Boris Kelberer joined the USSR Union of Artists. He has regularly exhibited  since 1956.

The retrospective explores the artist’s bold interpretation of various genres: lyrical canvases, landscapes, portraits, still lives poeticizing everyday existence and conveying a life asserting optimism.
 
Boris Kelberer’s artworks can be found in regional art museums and private collections. Now, the artist lives and works in Karelia.
