Marc Ginzburg and Oleg Zakomorni: Dedication to Russian Aviation
In September 2008 the Russian Academy of Arts will present an exhibition of works by artist Marc Ginzburg and sculptor Oleg Zakomorni devoted to the Russian aviation. On display will be pictorial, sculptural and graphic portraits of noted figures of Russian aviation and astronautics, test pilots and spacemen.
Artist Marc Ginzburg, who graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute and later worked at the design bureau, has set himself a task of depicting images of those whose life was dedicated to the development of aerospace technology. Marc Ginzburg created over forty portraits painted from life that were first displayed in the city of Zhukovski.
Sculptor Oleg Zakomorni has been keen on aviation for many years. On show are over fifty sculptures and graphic images of creators and test pilots of aircrafts and space vehicles, including portraits of such titans of Russian aviation science and aeronautical engineering as Sergei Korolev, Mstislav Keldysh, Igor Kurchatov, Andrei Tupolev, Semyon Lavochkin, Pavel Sukhoi, Nickolai Kamov and others.
The collection on display is of historical and documentary value. The artworks by Ginzburg and Zakomorni glorify the courage of people whose names should not be forgotten. The exhibition sets us thinking of how hard and often tragic was the way to outstanding achievements. The admiration for this romantic and at the same time risky profession is creating an affinity between the works by both artists.
