Exhibition of Works by Vladimir Mochalov Entitled Celebrities of the Past and Present

     December 18, 2007 through January 8, 2008. The exhibition halls of the Russian Academy of Arts, 21 Prechistenka street, Moscow, will  showcase over 200 works by Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Vladimir Mochalov. The exhibition centerpiece is a series of drawings entitled  Celebrities of the Past and Present executed in the genre of caricature and satirical portrait. Of big interest are the artist’s illustrations to Charles Perrault’s book “Tom Thumb”.   
     Vladimir Mochalov is a master of political caricature and friendly jests. For nearly 20 years he has been a chief artist of the Crocodile magazine.  The artist is one of the most talented successors of traditions of such distinguished masters as Kukryniksy, Boris Efimov, Leonid Soifertis, Konstantin Rotov, Vladimir Goryaev. Vladimir Mochalov is an author of many hundreds of masterly made cartoons, drawings and illustrations marked by prestigious awards at Russian and international exhibitions, contests, biennale. Vladimir Mochalov’s portrait gallery contains well-known historical and contemporary politicians, figures of arts and sport depicted in the light of irony and grotesque.
