Columbian Modern Art Exhibition
November 20 through December 2, 2007. The Embassy of Columbia in the Russian Federation in collaboration with the Russian Academy of Arts presents an exhibition of Columbian modern art in Tsereteli Art Gallery (19 Prechistenka street, Moscow). The exhibition featuring works by 43 artists enables the visitor to see the latest tendencies in Columbian art which history goes back to the 16th-18th century colonial period. The art of the Spanish colony New Granada, as Columbia was named then, was much influenced by European artists who stayed to live in the New World and initiated the creation of national art schools.
Nowadays, Columbian painting is on the rise due to recent economic, social and cultural development of the country.
