In Honor of the 250th Anniversary of the Russian Academy of Arts - Solo Exhibition of Paintings by Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts Andrei Mylnikov
On June 17, 2007 within the framework of festivities in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Arts in the exhibition halls of I. Repin St. Petersburg State Academy Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture opened a solo exhibition of paintings by an eminent artist, one of the oldest professors of I. Repin Institute, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts Andrei Mylnikov. The inauguration ceremony was attended the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli; Head of I. Repin Institute, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts Albert Charkin; the Academy’s Vice-Presidents - Tair Salakhov, Andrei Bichukov, Gennadi Stepanov and Vladimir Lenyashin; foreign guests – President of the French Academy of Fine Arts Pierre Schoendoerffer, Permanent Secretary of the French Academy of Fine Arts Arnaud d’ Hauterives, President of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (Jerusalem) Arnon Zuckerman.
The numerous attendees of the opening ceremony included St. Petersburg figures of culture, students and teachers of I. Repin St. Petersburg Institute, graduates of the noted studio of monumental painting which has been headed by Andrei Mylnikov since 1960.
Arnaud d’ Hauterives, Permanent Secretary of the French Academy of Fine Arts shared his impressions with the St. Petersburg Times reporter: “The history of creative relations between the Russian Academy of Arts and the French Academy of Fine Arts dates back to the times of Empress Elizabeth. The French men not only were teachers, but learnt themselves. Andrei Mylnikov has showed today, that in Russia there are actually a lot of things to be learnt. I am impressed by what I have seen and can say that a true master will be appreciated in any historical period”.
