Chelyabinsk Art College Hosted a Conference of Russian Art Institutions’ Teachers in Honor of the 250th Anniversary of the Russian Academy of Arts

     “The more active the contemporary art develops, the more timely is our discussion on academic art school”- was noted at the forum.  The home system of art education has been created by the Russian Academy of Arts in 1757 and evolved under its auspices for over two centuries.

President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli Was Reelected a Member of the Public Chamber of Russian Federation

     The President of the Russian Academy of Arts has been reelected a member of the Public Chamber.
     The results were announced on November 25, 2007. From the second part of 42 members of the Public Chamber, twenty five of them were reelected, seventeen people became new members.

President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli Participated in the 2nd Forum of Intellectuals From CIS Countries in Astana

     The president of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli took part in the 2nd Forum of Intellectuals From CIS Countries  opened in  Astana, Kazakhstan on November 12, 2007.  The Forum aimed at uniting efforts in fostering humanitarian cooperation focused on problems of the young generation in post-Soviet  countries.

Presentation of New Works by Vasili Nesterenko and Album “Vasili Nesterenko. Painting” in the Tsaritsyno Museum

     On October 31, 2007  there was a presentation of eight portraits of the most distinguished figures of Catherine the Great’s time by the People’s Artist of Russia, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Vasili Nesterenko in the Tsaritsyno Museum in Moscow. The centerpiece is the painting “Triumph of Catherine”.

Unveiling Ceremony for the Monument to Oleg of Ryazan by Zurab Tsereteli

     The bronze equestrian statue of Oleg of Ryazan sculptured by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli was dedicated in Ryazan on October 28, 2007 within the framework of events in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Ryazan region. Prince Oleg of Ryazan ruled in 1351-1402 and is known for his fighting for independence of the Ryazan principality.

Zurab Tsereteli Received the Chilean Order of Bernardo O’Higgins

     On October 26, 2007 Augusto Parra Munos, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Chile to the Russian Federation presented the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli with the Order of Bernardo O’Higgins in the highest rank of Grand Cross  The award is in recognition of the role that Zurab Tsereteli has played in fostering bilateral relations between Chile and Russia and his outstanding creative work.

Monument to the Prominent Russian Writer Ivan Bunin

     The monument to the prominent Russian writer, Nobel Prize laureate Ivan Bunin was unveiled in Povarskaya street in Moscow on October 22, 2007 in honor of his 137th birth anniversary. The monument has been designed by the Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts, Prof.  Alexander Burganov.

Awards to Alumni of the Russian Academy of Arts

     On October 25, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the state exhibition hall “New Manezh” (3/3 Georgievski lane, Moscow) will be held a session of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts and a ceremony of presenting awards to participants of the “Academic ART School” exhibition (painting, graphic art, sculpture, theatrical and monumental art) who are graduates of V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art  Institute and I. Repin St. Petersburg State Academy Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.

Zurab Tsereteli Receives the Chilean Order of Bernardo O’Higgins

     Today, the Ambassador of Chili to the Russian Federation Augusto Parro Munos has announced that the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli has been awarded the Order of Bernardo O’Higgins in the highest rank of Grand Cross by the Government of Chile. The award is in recognition of the role that Zurab Tsereteli has played in fostering bilateral relations between Chile and Russia and his outstanding creative work.

Artist Sergei Tkachev Was Awarded the Order “For Services to Motherland” 3d Rank

Moscow, October 11 /ITAR-TASS/.
