On January 24, 2012 in the New Manezh Exhibition Hall (3 Georgievsky Lane, Moscow) there was an opening of a solo exhibition of the eminent theater designer, People’s Artist of Russia, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts Mikhail Kurilko-Ryumin devoted to the 50th anniversary of his teaching activity at V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli who presented the artist with the Academy’s high award – the Order of Peter the Great.

On January 24, 2012 the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli and members of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts visited V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute. The Rector of V. Surikov Art Institute Anatoly Lyubavin and heads of its workshops showed the results of their students’ work in the first semester of 2011-2012 academic year. The joint discussion of the students’ works was aimed at the improvement of teaching programs.

The opening of the “Russia – Italy – Spain: Artistic Relations” International Research Conference (XXI Alpatov Readings) in honor of Russia-Italy and Russia-Spain Cross Culture Year 2011 took place in Tsereteli Art Gallery, 19 Prechistenka street, Moscow on November 30, 2011. On November 24, 2011 the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, 25 Petrovka street presented a new selection from its collection of modern art entitled ArtisArtisArt, that refers to the “Two Hours in an Empty Tank” poem by Joseph Brodsky (1965). The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli took part in the opening of the show. The new display follows the international museum practice of representing the museum’s collection in the form of annual changing exhibitions.
