Solo Show of Works by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli in Chelyabinsk

The Chelyabinsk Museum of Arts presents a major retrospective of over 150 works by the People’s Artist of Russia, President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli. These are canvases, graphic works, sculptural compositions, bronze reliefs and enamels produced by the artist for the last two decades.

Social Dependence: Art Project by the Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Nickolai Mukhin in the Yaroslavl Art Museum

Russia – Italy – Spain: Artistic Relations – International Research Conference (XXI Alpatov Readings) in Honor of Russia-Italy and Russia-Spain Cross Culture Year 2011

The opening of the “Russia – Italy – Spain: Artistic Relations” International Research Conference (XXI Alpatov Readings) in honor of Russia-Italy and Russia-Spain Cross Culture Year 2011 took place in Tsereteli Art Gallery, 19 Prechistenka street, Moscow on November 30, 2011. The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli addressed the attendees of the Conference and emphasized the significance of the Cross Culture Year 2011 in the promotion of a closer intercultural dialogue between Russia, Italy and Spain.

One Thousand and One Nights: Show of Works by the People’s Artist of Russia and Azerbaijan Tair Salakhov in Aidan Gallery

The exhibition in Aidan Gallery in Moscow features set designs produced by the People’s Artist of Russia and Azerbaijan, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Laureate of the USSR State Prizes Tair Salakhov for the “One Thousand and One Nights” ballet by Fikret Amirov, which first night took place in the State Kremlin Palace last year.

ARTisARTisART: New Selection from the Collection of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art

On November 24, 2011 the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, 25 Petrovka street presented a new selection from its collection of modern art entitled ArtisArtisArt, that refers to the “Two Hours in an Empty Tank” poem by Joseph Brodsky (1965). The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli took part in the opening of the show. The new display follows the international museum practice of representing the museum’s collection in the form of annual changing exhibitions.

Presentation of “Anatoly Karpov – the Great Russian Chess Player” Cup in Tsereteli Art Gallery

On November 24, 2011 in Tsereteli Art Gallery there was a presentation of an International Program - “Anatoly Karpov – the Great Russian Chess Player” Cup. The ceremony was attended by the Co-Chairman of the Program Organizing Committee Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences E.M. Primakov, Senior Secretary Professor A.G. Laskovenko, repeated World Chess Champion A.E. Karpov, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli.

The Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin Presented a Painting by Vasily Nesterenko as a Gift to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill

On November 21, 2011 the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin congratulated the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill on his 65th anniversary and presented him as a gift a painting by the People’s Artist of Russia Vasily Nesterenko depicting the enthronement of the Patriarch Tikhon in the Assumption Cathedral in Moscow during the days of the Russian Revolution of 1917. This historical event took place after two centuries of Peter the Great’s abolishment of the patriarchate and establishment of the Holy Synod.

The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli has been elected a Candidate for the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation from the Central Federal District. The voting took place on November 18, 2011.  From the Central Federal District were elected 12 persons.

On November 17, 2011 the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli took part in the opening of the exhibition “Mickhail Lomonosov and His Time” in the exhibition hall of the Federal Archives, 17 Bolshaya Pirogovskaya street, Moscow. The exposition includes several works by Zurab Tsereteli, among them  - the artist’s portrait of Mickhail Lomonosov.

The International “Giuseppe Sciacca” Award Was Presented to Zurab Tsereteli in Rome

The President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli has been honored with the International “Giuseppe Sciacca” Award for his significant contribution to the promotion of art. The award ceremony at the presence of Their Eminences the Cardinals Diego Castrillon Hoyos and Antonio Canizares Llovera, ecclesiastical, civil and military authorities took place in the Vatican City, in the Great Hall of the Pontifical Urbaniana University on November 12th, 2011.

Opening of the Monument to Heroes of Mimino Film in Tbilisi

On October 14, 2011 in Tbilisi (Georgia) was unveiled a monument to characters of the well-known Mimino film directed by George Danelia. The monument has been designed by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of the USSR and Russian Federation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli.
