Official Opening of the Solo Show of Works by Nelson Shanks in Moscow

The official opening of the solo show of works by the American painter Nelson Shanks in Tsereteli Art Gallery in Moscow took place on September 16, 2011. It  was attended by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation John Beyrle, diplomats, businessmen and figures of culture.

Masterclasses by Nelson Shanks and Zurab Tsereteli. September 15, 2011. Tsereteli Art Gallery.

On September 15, 2011 in the atrium of Tsereteli Art Gallery, 19 Prechistenka street,  the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli and noted American painter Nelson Shanks gave masterclasses in painting timed to the visit of  Nelson Shanks to Moscow and official opening of his solo show in the halls of  Tsereteli Art Gallery.

Solo Show of Works by Zurab Tsereteli in Ekaterinburg

Organized by the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, Ministry for Culture and Tourism of the Sverdlovsk Region and the Russian Academy of Arts, the exhibition in the Ekaterinburg Regional Museum of Local History features works by the world renowned artist Zurab Tsereteli, President of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of the USSR and Russia, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.

The Order for Services to Motherland 3rd Rank Was Awarded to the Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts Efrem Zverkov

Through the Edict of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev the Order for Services to Motherland 3rd Rank was awarded to the People’s Artist of the USSR, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts Efrem Zverkov “for his significant contribution to the promotion of Russian fine arts and life time achievements”.

The Day of Knowledge in Tsereteli Art Gallery

On September 1, 2011 in the atrium of Tsereteli Art Gallery there was a celebration of the Day of Knowledge dedicated to the beginning of the school year in the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum. The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli welcomed the students and attendees and presented the Academy awards to the best teachers of the Lyceum.

The Chapel of St. Nicholas Recreated under the Supervision of the Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Nickolai Mukhin Was Consecrated in Rybinsk

On September 3, 2011 in Rybinsk there was a consecration of the Chapel of St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker reconstructed in 2010-2011 under the supervision of the Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Nickolai Mukhin. He has recreated twenty seven monumental icons for the facades of the Chapel built in 1867, closed and heavily damaged in 1926-1927.

Zurab Tsereteli Received Words of Gratitude from the Director of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive in New York

The Director of the Bolshoi Ballet Summer Intensive and Dean of the Bolshoi  Ballet Academy Marina Leonova expressed words of gratitude to the renowned artist,  President of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of the USSR and Russia Zurab Tsereteli for his master class in painting and support of this Program annually held in New York under the auspices of the Russian-American Foundation.

The Heritage Cup honoring hockey battles was presented by Russian-American Foundation, NY Daily News, Group Ten Development as part of the 9th Annual Russian Heritage Festival in New York. The Heritage Cup has been designed and presented as a gift by internationally acclaimed artist Zurab Tsereteli, President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Founder and Director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.

Unveiling of the Monument to the Poles Who Perished in the Prison Camp in the Solovetsky Islands

On August 7, 2011 in the Solovetsky Islands, within the Days of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repressions annually held here in the early August, near the Solovetsky Stone installed on the Alley of Memory in 1989 there was an unveiling ceremony for the monument to the Poles who had perished in the prison camp in the Solovetsky Islands. The memorial slab on the granite boulder designed by the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Vyacheslav Bukhaev depicts two crosses – Catholic and Russian Orthodox and three holes symbolizing traces of bullets.

Gift of the Sculptor Alexander Burganov to the City of Orel

In honor of the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812 to be celebrated in the early autumn of 2012 the prominent sculptor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of Russia, Honorary Member of the Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, winner of the USSR State Prize   Alexander Burganov presented as a gift to the city of Orel a model of his 5m high equestrian monument to General Ermolov.

Descendants of the Eminent Russian Painter Ilya Repin Visited the Russian Academy of Arts

On July 16, 2011 the descendants of the eminent Russian painter Ilya Repin (1844-1930) visited the Russian Academy of Arts, 21 Prechistenka street, viewed an exposition in Tsereteli Art Gallery and exhibition in honor of the 110th anniversary of the Estate “Penaty” where Ilya Repin had worked and lived for almost 30 years until his death with his second wife Natalya Nordman.

Vladimir Soskiev: Primiere of the Film

On June 14, 2011 at 21.00 the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (GTRK) “Alania” will present a documentary film about Vladimir Soskiev, the celebrated sculptor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, Laureate of numerous prestigious awards, whose works are in collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and many private collections. On January 14th, 2011 Vladimir Soskiev marked his 70th anniversary.

“Love and Fidelity” Sculptural Composition by Aram Grigoryan Was Unveiled in Chita

On July 8, 2011 in Chita (Zabaykalsky Krai) was inaugurated a sculptural composition “Love and Fidelity” designed by Aram Grigoryan, Corresponding Member  of the Russian Academy of Arts, Vice-President of the Artists’ Union of Russia. The unveiling ceremony has been timed to the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity celebrated in Russia since 2008 on the day of St. Peter and Fevronia of Murom.

In the Novodevichy Cemetery Was Unveiled a Monument to the Great Choreographer Igor Moiseyev

On July, 2011 in the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow there was an unveiling ceremony for the monument to Igor Moiseyev, the great choreographer,  founder of the world famous Ensemble of Folk Dance (Moiseyev Ensemble), People’s Artist of the USSR, holder of State Prizes and other numerous Russian and foreign awards. The sculptural composition has been designed by the  People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Rukavishnikov and architect Sergey Sharov.
