THE FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS VICTOR KALININ AND MEMBERS OF THE PRESIDIUM TOOK PART IN THE INAUGURATION OF THE EXHIBITION AT THE CHINESE CULTURAL CENTER IN MOSCOW

On January 16, 2024 within the framework of the Cross Culture Year of China and Russia at the Chinese Cultural Center (1 Pravda street, building 1, Moscow) there was an unveiling of the Russian-Chinese exhibition of paintings and works of calligraphy. The exhibition showcases 130 artworks created for the exhibition by the noted Chinese and Russian artists including the Chairman of the Chinese Association of Calligraphers Song Xiaoyun, Honorary Chairman Su Shishu, Honorary Chairman of the Chinese Association of Artists  Fang Yuan, as well as oil canvases by the People’s Artists of Russia and other Russian figures of art.  In 2024 we are marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Russia, this year is also the first from the two years declared as the Cross Culture Years of China and Russia. The exhibition has been organized under the auspices of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Russian Federation, Chinese Center for International Cultural Exchange, the Chinese Cultural Center in Moscow.

At the opening ceremony the welcoming speeches have been made by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Hanhui, as well as  the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for International Affairs of the Council of the Federation A.I. Denisov; the First Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts (RAA) V.G. Kalinin; Chairman of the Artists’ Union of Russia  A.N. Kovalchuk; Deputy Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Society of Friendship G.V. Kulikova; Rector of V. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute A.A. Lyubavin; Academician and Member of the Presidium  of the RAA  S.A. Scherbakov and other Russian figures of art and culture. More than 300 exhibition participants have had a rare opportunity to get acquainted with the unique traditional culture of China. The Chinese eminent artists and masters of calligraphy, who came to Russia to take part in the exhibition, gave a master class and demonstrated their brilliant skills in calligraphy. They also presented to the exhibition attendees the Chinese New Year congratulations with the calligraphic words meaning “happiness”.
