PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK “RUSSIA-INDIA. GARDEN OF FRIENDSHIP” AT THE MUSEUM AND EXHIBITION COMPLEX OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS

On November 13, 2023 at the Apple Hall of the Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Russian Academy of Arts (19 Prechistenka street, Moscow) there will be a presentation of the publication of the Russian Academy of Arts resulted from the academic exhibition project of the same name in honor of the 75th  anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and India.

The book published with the charitable support of the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli is devoted to the unique contribution of the USSR Academy of Arts (now Russian Academy of Arts) to the Russian-Indian  ties in fine arts after the establishment of diplomatic relations with India  in 1947. The Academy turned out to be in the avant-garde of the cultural relations closely woven into the interstate cooperation.

The publication presents articles, diary entries, materials from the Russian state archives, rich photo archives of Russian and Indian artists from their family and private collections. The publication also includes many works by Russian artists created during their trips to India. These are both the long gone masters, Academicians of the USSR Academy of Arts Alexander Gerasimov, Evgeny Vuchetich and noted artists of the second half of the 20th century – members of the Russian Academy of Arts Ilya Glazunov, Dmitry Nalbandyan, Vladimir Pereyaslavets, Oleg Komov, Valentin Sidorov, Alexander Belashov, Stanislav Nikireev, Dmitry Zhilinsky, as well as distinguished contemporary authors – Zurab Tsereteli, Victor Kalinin, Alexey Shmarinov, Dmitry Tugarinov, Dmitry Sandzhiev, Valery Maloletkov, Erick Bulatov and many others.  A lot of materials have been published for the first time.  

The presentation will be attended by representatives of the Russian Academy of Arts and the Embassy of India in Moscow.
