The Russian Academy Of Arts

The Department of Art History and Art Criticism in partnership with the Institute of Theory and History of Fine Arts of the Russian Academy of Arts invite you to take part in the final panel discussion dedicated to the theme “The Dialogue with Classics in the Context of Modern Creative Process”, that will take place in the white Hall of the Russian Academy of Arts (21 Prechistenka street, Moscow) on October 25, 2023 at 12.00.

 

The theme contains a lot of various aspects for discussion. The aesthetic aspect of understanding the role of the classical heritage seems to be very important in relation to contemporary art. This problem covers all types of art. The timeless artistic perfection, life in time and space, high professionalism related to the concept of classics remain the significant criteria in the evaluation of the aesthetic state and development of contemporary art.

 

The main topics to be discussed:

 

-the perception of classics in the space of Modern Times and its role in today’s creative process;

-the dialogue with classics in the context of the “big” artistic experiment and innovations;

-the classic standard and free search;

-the classic motif in the vision of contemporary artist;

-the place of classics in the new kinds of artistic activity;

-does the classics have any future?
