Memory of Contemporary Art: Panel Discussion at the Russian Academy of Arts

The Department of Art History and Art Criticism of the Russian Academy of Arts invites you to attend a panel discussion “Memory of Contemporary Art” that will take place on April 27, 2010 at 4.30pm in the White Hall of the Russian Academy of Arts, 21 Prechistenka street.

The program presents scholarly papers of the Italian artist Ugo Nespolo, leading Moscow art historians and art critics - M.A. Busev, A.A. Zolotov, M.P. Lazareva, A.I. Morozova, A.I. Rozhina, A.V. Tolstoi, M.A. Chegodaeva, A.K. Yakimovich, masters of Russian art – D.D. Zhilinsky, V.G. Kalinin, T.G. Nazarenko, I.A. Starzhenetskaya and others.

The discussion will deal with urgent problems of contemporary art, the role of artistic legacy of the past, correlation of classical traditions and new forms, development of new technologies, emergence of new systems and images of artistic thinking.

The discussion will be led by the Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts. Academician-Secretary of the Department of Art History and Art Criticism Dmitry Shvidkovsky.
