Solo Show of Works by the Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexei Begov in the Kaluga Regional Art Museum

On show in the Kaluga Regional Art Museum are paintings by the Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexei Begov produced by him in various years. Alexei Begov is a distinctive artist whose work combines Oriental, Russian and European art trends.

He was born in the Ukraine in 1951, studied in Kazakhstan, lived and worked in Kyrgyzstan. Since the 1980s the artist has been living in Moscow. In 1995 of big success was his solo exhibition in the Tretyakov Gallery. From 1998 till 2004 Alexei Begov lived and worked in Paris. In 2004 he completed his huge work on the murals of St. Nicholas Chapel of the Chateau de Gillevoisin near Paris. It was not his first experience in monumental painting. In the 1990s, within the framework of the international action “The Wall of Peace” Alexei Begov created a 10m canvas “The End of the 20th Century” that was a rare opportunity for the artist to develop and integrate an enormous area.

In 2006 Alexei Begov became the first Russian chevalier of the Gold Medal “Art –Science – Literature” of the French Academic Society. His works are in art museums of Moscow, Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Alma-Ata, Pavlodar, as well as in private collections in Russia, Poland, Switzerland, Canada, the United States, Germany, Belgium.
