Exhibition of Paintings by the People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Obrosov in the Russian Academy of Arts

The display in the Russian Academy of Arts explores the lesser known lyrical works by the renowned painter, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Igor Obrosov.  Many of them have never been shown to the public before.

The artist-thinker and philosopher, who is constantly reflecting on the life and fates in art, Obrosov affirms high moral, aesthetic and spiritual values which he has been remaining true in all his works.

The show includes paintings resulted from Obrosov’s tours to France, Germany and Norway that made a great impression on him. The highlight of the show is his Norwegian cycle depicting the landscape of this northern country, its wild forests, the mysterious beauty of fiords, boundless glassy surface of lakes surrounded by ridges of mountains covered with snow.  The artist has been much impressed by Bergen, the home city of the Norwegian composer Edward Grieg, whose portrait can be seen in the exposition. This trip, as the artist put it, has provided him with an opportunity to comprehend the greatness of the music for the play Peer Gynt and to recreate through art the two beginnings – sound and color.

Besides the European cycles, on display are works devoted to Moscow such as Sparrow Hills, Neskuchny Garden, Patriarch’s Ponds and others.
