THE MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS ZURAB TSERETELI WITH THE MINISTER OF CULTURE OLGA LYUBIMOVA

On May 29, 2023 there was a meeting of the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab K. Tsereteli and the Russian Minister of Culture Olga B. Lyubimova. The meeting has been attended by the Deputy Culture Minister Nadezhda Prepodobnaya, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Executive Director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art Vasily Tsereteli, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts and Assistant to the RAA President Sergi Shagulashvili.

Vasily Tsereteli has informed, that his recent trip to the People’s Republic of China and visit  to the National Art Museum of China where there was an International Academic Symposium in honor of the Museum’s 60th  anniversary  resulted in the agreement to arrange a solo exhibition of Zurab Tsereteli  in the Museum’s prestigious halls.  The exhibition, which opening is planned to take place on September 4, 2023 will include 55 works of the master: paintings, sculptures, enamels and graphic sheets. It will be the first art show of a foreign artist after the pandemic in China. After the exhibition is over ten works by the renowned artist will be presented as a gift to the Museum.

On May 22, 2023 there was a ceremony for presentation of the sculpture by Zurab Tsereteli to the National Art Museum of China dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Museum. This is the second endowment of the President of the Russian Academy of Arts to this Chinese Art Museum: in 2015 he donated his “Peace” sculpture. Zurab Tsereteli also told Olga Lyubimova about other plans for his exhibition activity, his master classes in painting including the ones for children from the new regions of Russia.

The Russian Academy of Arts is a major center of Russian art culture, a successor of traditions of the Academy of Arts and Sciences founded by the decree of Peter I dated 1724. The establishment of the Academy of Three Noble Arts in 1757 laid the foundations for the further development of Russian Art Culture and Science. At present, the Russian Academy of Arts with all  its creative, educational, research and museum divisions is a unique entity implementing the national interests in the promotion of artistic culture and aesthetic education.
