On October 21, 2021 at 17.00 in the Conference hall of the New Tretyakov Gallery (10 Krymsky Val, Moscow) there will be a creative meeting with the People’s Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, sculptor Alexander Burganov.
Alexander Burganov is a world renowned artist who made a significant contribution to the promotion of Russian school of monumental sculpture. He was born on March 20, 1935 in Baku. In 1959 Burganov graduated fr om S. Stroganov Moscow Academy of Arts and Industry wh ere he studied the monumental and decorative sculpture under E.F. Belashova and G.I. Motovilov. His works are in major museum and private collections in many countries, his sculptures and monumental ensembles adorn streets and squares of cities in Russia, Europe, America, Asia. Among the well-known monuments are the statues of Yury Gagarin in Canada, Alexander Pushkin in Washington, poet Vasily Zhukovsky in Baden-Baden, “Two Emperors” monument in Brussels, etc. In Moscow stand his monument to Alexander Pushkin and Natalia Goncharova and fountain “The Princess Turandot” in the Old Arbat, monuments to Mickhail Lermontov, Ivan Bunin, to the founder of the Music Academy Elena Gnesina, as well as his sculptural park ensembles in the Ukraine boulevard and Sivtsev Vrazhek street and works for the Moscow subway. Highly appreciated is his ensemble of sculptures for the open air exposition in France presented by Pierre Cardin in Lacoste near Avignon and in Paris in Champs-Elysees.
Alexander Burganov is a founder and Director of the Moscow museum “Burganov House” which became a cultural center where there was implemented the idea of the synthesis of arts – architecture, sculpture, music and theater.
