28.07.2021 -

On July 28th, 2021 the world renowned Italian conductor, the Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Riccardo Muti is marking his 80th jubilee.

Riccardo Muti started his carrier in 1966 when he successfully performed three concert programs with the student orchestra of the Naples Conservatory. He became famous after the victory at the "Guido Cantelli Competition for Conductors" in Milan in 1967. Muti is considered the leading figure of modern conducting art who stands on a par with such titans of the past as Arturo Toscanini, Wilhelm Furtwengler, Bruno Walter, Otto Klemperer. Ricardo Muti can rightfully be called the conqueror of the peaks of the musical Olympus: for many years he has been the chief conductor of the La Scala Theater in Milan; his name can be seen on posters of many top theaters and orchestras of the world.

The Presidium and the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli congratulated Riccardo Muti on his 80th jubilee:

"Sincerely revered Maestro Riccardo Muti,

The Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts and I personally cordially congratulate you, the elected Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, on your significant Jubilee!

Your conducting art is a precious gem of modern culture. Having inherited and continuing the eternal traditions of the great masters of Italian music and theater, you have brought a new intellectual takeoff to the art world by enthusiastically interpreting the opera and symphonic classics, including music of Russian composers. With your inherent depth and sophistication, sensuality and rigor you perform works of Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky embodying the versatility of modern spirituality.

Maestro Muti, we wish you Beethoven's joy and Mozart's creativity in life!

Zurab Tsereteli, President of the Russian Academy of Arts"
