RUSSIA AND THE EAST: ART, PHILOSOPHY, CULTURE – INTERNATIONAL INTERDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCE
(MPRH Institute, Iran) invite you to take part in the International Conference “Russia and the East: Art, Philosophy, Culture”, that will take place at the Russian Academy of Arts (21 Prechistenka street, Moscow) on October 14-15, 2019.
In 2019 we are marking the 145th birth anniversary of the Academician Nicholas K. Roerich, 115th birth anniversary of his son Svyatoslav N. Roerich and the 140th birth anniversary of Elena I. Roerich – the spouse of Nicholas K. Roerich who was an extraordinary thinker and united in her creative work the philosophy of the East and West.
Russia is a multinational country. For Russia the “oriental dimension” is one of the most important. Russian philosophers and thinkers have brought to Russian culture the elements of oriental mentality. The eminent Russian artists such as Nickolai Roerich and Svyatoslav Roerich, Vasily Vereshchagin, Pavel Kuznetsov, other artists-orientalists painted the East basing on their personal impressions and understanding of oriental myths and legends. From the East came to Russia the “animal style”, later appeared the oriental style in decorative art. Historically Russia grew East, absorbed its new art trends and practices. The painting of Niko Pirosmani, sculptures and canvases of Zurab Tsereteli have become an integral part of Russian culture.
