From February 22-24, 2010 UNESCO Headquarters in Paris will host events in honor of the 1000th anniversary of the city of Yaroslavl. The Yaroslavl land will be represented by the Governor of Yaroslavl Region Sergei Vakhrukov, the Mayor of Yaroslavl Victor Volonchunas and the first woman in space Valentina Tereshkova. The focus of the events will be an exhibition “Ten Centuries – Ten Histories”.
The exhibition “Ten Centuries – Ten Histories” presents a 1000-year history of Yaroslavl from its foundation till today. The jubilee program also includes a concert in the Russian Cultural Center, masterclasses by the celebrated painter, Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts Nickolai Mukhin and noted animator, winner of the Academy Award for Animated Short Film Alexander Petrov.
There will be a meeting of the Governor Sergei Vakhrukov with the President of Paris-Sorbonne University (Paris IV) Georges Molinie. The Archbishop of Rostov and Yaroslavl Kirill will take part in the events in Paris.
