The presentation of the “Night at the Ipatiev House” new sculptural composition by Zurab Tsereteli will be held at Tsereteli Art Gallery (19 Prechistenka street, Moscow) on July 12, 2007 at 1 p.m.
The presentation of the sculpture is timed to the date of murder of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas 11 and his family executed on the night of July 17, 1918 in the basement of the Ipatiev House in Ekaterinburg according to the resolution of the Ural Regional Soviet approved by the Soviet of People’s Commissars with Lenin in the Chair.
Zurab Tsereteli has depicted Nicholas 11 and members of his family in the moment of the remarkable emotional tension. Their faces and poses full of inner nobility express their readiness to fulfill their destiny.
In 2000, the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church canonized the assassinated members of the Russian Royal family - Emperor Nicholas, Empress Alexandra, Crown Prince Alexis, Grand Princesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia.
