THE PROJECT “PATHS OF FAITH. THE ART OF ANDREY ESIONOV IN SEVEN CHURCHES OF ROME”

Fr om May 17 till October, 2022 Rome will host a solo exhibition of canvases by the Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts and Honorary Member of the   Academy of Fine Arts of Florence Andrey Esionov. The project “Paths of Faith. The Art of Andrey Esionov in Seven Churches of Rome” (Percorsi della Fede. L’Arte di Andrey Esionov in Sette Chiese di Roma) presents the master’s works simultaneously in seven central basilicas of the Italian capital: Pantheon/Santa Maria ad Martyres; Il Gesu; San Marco, Sant Andrea della Valle; San Lorenzo in Lucina; Santi Vicenzo e Anastasio, Santa Maria in Campitelli.  The major project has been implemented by the Dioecesis Urbis seu Romana and the publishing house “Il Cigno Gg Edizioni Roma” on the initiative of the Vatican under the auspices of the Culture Ministry of Italy in honor of the Year dedicated to Family (Amoris Laetitia) and the 10th World Meeting of Families that will take place in June, 2022.

On May 17, 2022 at 19.00 in the basilica of San Marco Evangelista al Campidoglio there will be a press conference of Vittorio Sgarbi about the art of Andrey Esionov which will be welcomed by Mons. Renzo Giuliano – Rector of the Basilica and Lorenzo Zichichi – Director of the publishing house  “Il Cigno Gg Edizioni Roma”;

On May 19, 2022 at 20.00 in the basilica of Sant Andrea della Valle there will be an opening ceremony for the exhibition “Paths of Faith. The Art of Andrey Esionov in Seven Churches of Rome”. The welcoming address of the Rector of the Basilica will be followed by a concert of two sopranos Anna Koshina (Russia) and Sofia Chaika  (Ukraine) with string quartet under the direction of Roberto  Giuliani, Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia. The program also includes poems about peace to be recited by the poetess Francesca Merloni and the solo concert by the pianist Remo Anzovino.

On May 20, 2022 at 19.00 in the basilica of Pantheon/Santa Maria ad Martyres within the exhibition “Paths of Faith. The Art of Andrey Esionov in Seven Churches of Rome” there will be an opening for the display of the artist’s picture “The Last Supper” which will be presented by the Pantheon’s Director Gabriella Musto and the Rector of the basilica Mons. Daniele Micheletti. The program includes poems to be recited by the poetess Francesca  Merloni and the solo concert by the pianist Remo Anzovino.

Andrey Esionov was born on November 30, 1963 in the Russian family in Tashkent. In 1981 he finished the Republican Music and Art School wh ere he studied painting and graphics and later graduated from A. Ostrovsky State Theater and Art Institute in Tashkent. Andrey Esionov is an Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, Member of the Creative Artists’ Union of Russia. He is a holder of the Medal “For Services to the Fatherland 2nd Rank”, Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts, Silver Medal of the Creative Artists’ Union, Winner of  international and national exhibitions. The artist is one of the distinguished representatives of the Post-Soviet Neorealism. His works are in collections of the major state museums: the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Moscow); the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg); the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan (Kazan); Samara Art Museum (Samara); the State Art Museum of Uzbekistan (Tashkent), Museum of the Accademia delle Arti del Desegno (Florence) and others.
