The Russian Academy of Arts, the Moscow Union of Artists, the World Association “Cartoonists for Peace” and the New Jerusalem Museum and Exhibition Complex present a one-day exhibition project “Football through the Eyes of Graphic Artists of Russia, France and Other Countries” that will take place in Tsereteli Art Gallery (the Apple Hall) on June 20, 2018. The idea of the exhibition has appeared in the New Jerusalem Museum, when the French Football Federation chose the Museum to host the press-center of the French national team during the final part of the World Cup in Russia. This choice is unparalleled as never in the history of Football World Cups an art museum and element of football infrastructure shared the same roof. In response the Museum organized an exhibition of artists-caricaturists on the football theme.

The exhibition is divided into two symbolic teams: the team of Russian cartoonists  and international team under the leadership of France are headed by two “coaches” – masters of world cartoons: Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, Honorary Member of the French Academy of Comic Arts Igor Smirnov and recently elected as an Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, President of the World Association “Cartoonists for Peace” Jean Plantu.

The Russian team presents five generations of artists born in the 1930s – 1970s, including, besides Igor Smirnov, the world recognized graphic artist, Mickhail Zlatkovsky; the Chevalier of the French Order of the Legion of Honor for achievements in caricature, the former Chief Artist of the Olympic Games-1980 in Moscow Oleg Tesler; the Vice-President of the Federation of European Cartoonists’ Organizations, Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Victor Bogorad, other masters and young talented artists.
