The Enchanted Wanderer: Exhibition of Works by Zurab Tsereteli as Part of the XXth Festival of Russian Art in Cannes

Organizers: The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russian Cultural Foundation, Palace of Festivals and Congress Hall in Cannes, the City Hall of Cannes, the Russian Academy of Arts, the Republic of Mari El.

The exhibition presents paintings, enamels and small sculpture by the world renowned artist, People’s Artist of Russia, President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli.

In showing these works together the viewers are offered an opportunity to see different facets of the master’s creative work. The fusion of fantasy and visual interpretation of the reality are a constant element of his creative process. In his compositions the past enters into a dialogue with the present and even some minor details obtain the sacral values of love, faith, good. It is the eathly life in its momentary sketches and monumental canvases of eternity, in its intimacy and grand scale. The master paves the way to the knowledge of good and opens new worlds that become available in his artistic dimension.

Zurab Tsereteli was born in 1934 in Tbilisi (Georgia). He is a founder  and director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art  to which he donated  his private collection of works of Russian avant-garde and masterpieces of world art. The art of Zurab Tsereteli has been highly appreciated by numerous Russian and international orders and awards. His works are in museum and private collections around the world.
