The Russian Academy of Arts presents a jubilee solo exhibition of the Honored Art Worker of the Russian Academy of Arts, Doctor of Art History, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Anna Ryndina.

The exhibition features almost 70 works including the master’s graphic sketches of costumes and stage scenery of the 1960s-1980-s, as well as paintings in oil, tempera, gouache produced for the last five years. The work of Anna Ryndina covers all the variety of genres – portaits, landscapes, still lifes, canvases on the Biblical topics. The artist creates her own world of images leading a dialogue with the viewer in the language of color, rhythm and shapes. Her canvases are works of a philosopher and lyricist, a dreamer, they are full of music, poetry, vitality and special energy.

About her way in art Anna Ryndina says: “ I have painted all my childhood and  adolescence sitting near my father who was a set designer. I do not have a professional art education, but for quite a long time I studied painting under a very talented teacher V.V. Pochitalov. My father strongly supported my classes and appreciated my talent in creating theatrical costumes. I was involved in his work on the stage design for the “Don Carlos” opera by Giuseppe Verdi (the Bolshoi Theater, 1964), produced costumes for “Madam Bovari” play at the State Maly Theater in 1963. In 1967 in partnership with Maris Liepa I made a set design for the ballet “The Spirit of Rose” (Michael Fokin choreographed the ballet to the music of Carl Maria Weber, Maris Liepa recreated the ballet in the Bolshoi Theater in 1966) for which I was much criticized as it was not like the performance of Diaghilev. In the early 1970-s I made a set design and costumes for the Tales of Hoffmann opera by Jacques Offenbach. After my father died in 1974 I stopped painting for more than thirty years. Suddenly in 2006 I felt a need to draw again but not for the theater, since 1972  - a member of the theatrical department of the Moscow Artists’ Union”.

Anna Ryndina was born in Moscow in 1937 in the family of the People’s Artist of the USSR, famous set designer Vadim Ryndin. Having preferred a scientific path, she graduated fr om M.
