The Department of Art History and Art Criticism and the Research Institute of Theory and History of Fine Arts of the Russian Academy of Arts invite you to attend the International Research Conference – The 29th Alpatov Readings: “The Garden and Park of East and West. The Dialogue and Forms of Identity”, that will take place in the White Hall of the Russian Academy of Arts (21 Prechistenka street, Moscow) on December 6-7, 2018.


The project is aimed at studying the historical and cultural heritage of academic school in the field of garden and park art and the ecological component in art culture in general. The head of the project: Dmitry O. Shvidkovsky, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Art History and Art Criticism, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Academician of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, Doctor of Art History, Professor, Honorary Doctor of Shibaura Institute in Tokyo.

On December 7, 2018 the Conference participants are planned to visit the Botanic Garden of the Moscow State University. The Conference will be accompanied by publishing a monography “The Dialogue of Cultures of East and West in Garden and Park Art”. The Russian Academy of Arts is not responsible for the Conference’s traveling and accommodation expenses.
