In Moscow Was Unveiled a Memorial Plaque Commemorating the Soviet Statesman and Diplomat Vasily Kuznetsov

On July 18, 2018  in Moscow there was an unveiling ceremony for a memorial plaque commemorating the eminent Soviet statesman and diplomat, twice Hero of Socialist Labor Vasily Kuznetsov (1901-1990) installed on the façade of the house in Spiridonovka street where he lived.

Created on the initiative of the Council of Veterans of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the bronze memorial plaque has been designed by the renowned artist and sculptor, People’s Artist of Russia, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli. The architect is an Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexander Mirianashvili.
  
The unveiling ceremony was attended by the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, diplomats, representatives of the Moscow Government, veteran organizations.  

The fate of Vasily Kuznetsov like that of many Soviet leaders was connected with important stages in the history of the state.  Since March 1953 Kuznetsov was engaged in the diplomatic work as the USSR Ambassador to China; Deputy and from 1955 – First Deputy of the USSR Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was involved in the resolution of the Cuban missile crisis, in Hungarian crisis of 1956,  
crisis of 1968 in Czechoslovakia. Kuznetsov participated in the adoption of the UN Security Council resolution on the Middle East in 1967, in the Soviet-Chinese negotiations on  the border settlement in 1969-70-s and other major political and international critical situations.
