23.12.2015 -

The Scientific Council for Historical and Theoretical Problems of Art History of the Department of History and Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences in partnership with the Research Institute of Theory and History of Fine Arts of the Russian Academy of Arts invite you to attend the lecture by T.V. Malova “The Recursive Images of Francois Boisrond” to be held within the program of the Research Seminar on the New Art Trends on December 23, 2015 at 16.00 (21 Prechistenka street, Moscow).

The artist of the French group of the 1980-s “Figuration Libre” Francois Boisrond
for many years has been studying visual and semantic possibilities of “mise en abyme” through playing with a traditional motif “picture in picture” in various projections. After a quarter of the century the recursive logic has transformed into a cycle of paintings created on the motifs of Godar’s film “Passion”: these are shots from the film revived on the canvas telling the process of the film’s shooting which mise-en-scenes reproduce masterpieces of the old masters.
