Inauguration of the Monument to the Military Pilot, Hero of the Russian Federation Alexander Maslov


On June 26, 2015 in the settlement of Provodnik in Kolomensky District of the Moscow Region there was an unveiling ceremony for the bust of the military pilot, Hero of the RF Alexander Maslov (1907-1941). A commander of the 3rd squadron of the 207th aviation regiment, on June 26, 1941 he was killed during a combat sortie performing a ram attack on the German mechanized column. The crew died together with the commander. The author of the sculptural composition is the People’s Artist of Russia, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli.


In 1996 through the edict of the President of the Russian Federation captain Alexander Maslov and members of his crew were posthumously awarded the title of the Hero of the Russian Federation for their courage and heroism in the fight against fascists during the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945.

The bust has been presented  by Zurab Tsereteli as his gift.
