Meeting of the Patriarch-Catholicos of All Georgia Ilia II with the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli

On January 23, 2013 the Patriarch-Catholicos of All Georgia Ilia II visited Tsereteli Art Gallery where he met with the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli, Russian officials and figures of culture. The Head of the Georgian Orthodox Church had arrived in Moscow to receive the Prize of the International Foundation for the Unity of Orthodox Peoples “For Outstanding Services to the Promotion of Fraternal Ties among Orthodox Nations and Churches”.

On January 22, in Novo-Ogarevo there was a meeting of the Russian President Vladimir Putin with the Patriarch-Catholicos of All Georgia Ilia II and Patriarch of All Russia Kirill. The Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Patriarch Ilia II on his 80th anniversary and 35th anniversary in the position of the Head of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The Georgian Patriarch Ilia II enjoys an indisputable authority in the orthodox world and after the armed conflict of 2008 has been a connecting link between Georgia and Russia.
