Zurab Tsereteli Took Part in the Press-Conference on the Competition to Be Held within the Framework of the Grant “For the Revival of Classical Traditions of Russian Painting”

On February 14, 2011 the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Russian Academy of Arts held a press-conference on the competition to be arranged within the framework of the Grant “For the Revival of Classical Traditions of Russian Painting”. The press-conference was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture Pavel Khoroshilov, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli, Director of the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum Alexander Yastrebenetsky, Director of B. Ioganson State Academy Art Lyceum in St. Petertsburg Larisa Kirillova, President of the Borodin Meat House company Vitaly Gevorkyan.

In 2010 the Russian Academy of Arts and the Borodin Meat House company set up a grant “For the Revival of Classical Traditions of Russian Painting”. Due to this initiative young artists has obtained a possibility to study art and have a practice in the world centers of classical art. Last year, the participants of the competition were students of the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum. In 2011 they will compete for the grant together with students of B. Ioganson State Academy Art Lyceum in St. Petersburg. The winners will upgrade their skills in Florence, one of the Italian richest treasuries of classical art.

This year, the project has been included in the program of events in honor of the Year of Russian Culture and Language in Italy and the Year of Italian Culture and Language in Russia.
