Results of the Annual Examination of Works by Students of V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute
The joint meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts and Scientific Council of V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute dedicated to results of the 2006-2007 academic year was held in V. Surikov Art Institute on June 7, 2007. It was chaired by People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, head of V. Surikov Art Institute Andrei Bichukov and attended by prominent masters of home fine arts – Tair Salakhov, Dmitri Zhilinsky, Michael Kurilko-Ryumin, Valentin Sidorov, Alexander Rukavishnikov, Eugene Maximov, Michael Pereyaslavets and others, professors and teachers of V. Surikov Art Institute, members of the art education division of the Russian Academy of Arts. Under the examination were works by the 1st – 5th year students of faculties of painting, sculpture and architecture.
Being one of the largest centers of art education in Russia, V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute once again has proved a high professional level of its students. Keeping up the traditions of academic art school its teachers focus on developing students’ creative mentality, teaching the laws of composition, correlations between colors and space, anatomy.
As a result of the examination 15 students for their excellent results in art disciplines have been recommended to be awarded the Academy medal “For Achievements in Study”.
