Exhibition in Honor of the 80th Anniversary of the Art Department of S. Gerasimov All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography

The Art Department of S. Gerasimov All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography was set up in 1938 on the initiative of eminent masters of fine arts such as F.S. Bogorodsky, Y.I. Pimenov, B.V. Dubrovsky-Eshke, I.P. Ibanov-Vano, M.A. Bogdanov, G.A. Myasnikov, I.A. Shpinel. Its main goal is to train broad specialists in art for working both in cinema and all types of fine arts. The Art Department is proud of its graduates – the masters who made a great contribution to the promotion of Russian art, these are M.M. Kurilko-Ryumin, A.T. Borisov, V.Y. Levental, C.A. Alimov,  A.V. Kuznetsov, V.V. Petrov, V.V. Arkhipov and many others.    

The exhibition presents more than 100 works by celebrated masters including paintings and graphic sketches for feature and animated films, easel works, costumes and sketches for costumes – a peculiar embodiment of the history of Russian cinema, an interesting page in history of Russian fine arts.

The opening ceremony will be attended by Boris Messerer, Sergey Alimov, Boris Blank, Yury Norstein, Valery Arkhipov and other eminent artists.
