The Time of Footprints in the Sand: Photo Exhibition of Zakhar Kolovsky

The Russian Academy of Arts presents a photo exhibition of the Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Honored Art Worker of Russia Zakhar Kolovsky entitled “The Time of Footprints in the Sand”.

Zakhar Kolovsky was born in 1956. In 1984 he graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute, in 2000 – I. Repin St. Petersburg State Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Since 2002, he has been heading the “ROSPHOTO” State Museum and Exhibition Center in St. Petersburg. As a curator Zakhar Kolovsky has executed more than 100 exhibition projects. Continuing working as an artist he created such major cycles as “Windows”, “Electorate”, “Lines”, “Ship Architecture”, “Emergency Emersion”. His solo shows were in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Paris, Riga, Zagreb and other cities.

For the photo artist Zakhar Kolovsky photographs are first of all a material for different art experiments. The techniques used in his works, such as the combination in the picture, superposition of different plans and multiplication of shots extending the woks beyond the art of photography, make them similar to cinematography.  

The works by Zakhar Kolovsky are in collections of the State Russian Museum, Central Navy Museum, State Center for Modern Art, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, National Art Museum of Latvia, as well as in private collections.
