Exhibition of the Honored Artist of Russia Leila Khasianova at the Russian Academy of Arts

The exhibition features over 30 paintings created by the Honored Artist of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Leila Khasianova in the 1980-s – 2000s.

Leila Khasianova successfully works in various genres of fine arts, but by nature she is first and foremost a portrait painter. Since her student years she was attracted by people, their faces, the uniqueness of their external appearance have attracted the artist’s attention. In her psychological portraits she is a master of conveying the essence and sole of her models.

Leila Khasianova graduated fr om V. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute (the Portrait Department headed by Prof.  Ilya Glazunov). For several years she taught at S. Stroganov Moscow Institute of Arts and Industry, since 1992-2013  worked at I. Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, wh ere she headed the Portrait Department, Chair for Academic and Anatomic Drawing, Faculty of Painting, was a Pro-Rector for research work. Leila Khasianova is a Professor, PhD in History. She is a participant of 46 art exhibitions including  her 15 solo shows.

The artist is an author of more than 350 canvases, the most distinguished among them are portraits from the series “Women of Russia”, portraits of workers of Baikal-Amur Mainline, scientists-metallurgist, scientists-meteorologists, pilots, cycles dedicated to Japan, India, Arab countries. According to the art critic Nina Getashvili “Leila Khasianova has immediately became a mature artist. She got a happy combination of creative potential and possibility to implement it”.
