The Modern Art Gallery in Kazan hosts a major jubilee solo show of works by Konstantin Khudyakov, the Honored Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, Head of the Volga Regional Department of the Russian Academy of Arts, President of the Creative Union of Artists, Professor of S. Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry.
The exhibition entitled The Art of Deep Submersion has been organized under the auspices of the Russian Academy of Arts, S. Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry, the Creative Union of Artists. The Art of Deep Submersion is a project targeted at showing the latest digital technologies in contemporary art. On-screen 3D panoramas, plasma and liquid crystal stereo-panels of high resolution, digital pictures, video art attract and absorb the viewer into the world of new virtuality – total and all-consuming.
The exhibition in Kazan features works created by Konstantin Khudyakov in 2005-2014. These are works from various cycles: “Deisis”, “Angel’s Eye”, “New Russian Type”, major cycle “Hotel Russia” conceived by the author as an artistic analog of the world that we live in: its essence, spirit and flesh, dramatic history and not less dramatic reality. The projects emerged at the turn of the millennium continue today: the artist is always on the move adding, specifying and generalizing the things that he is interested in as a man and artist. His works combine his architectural experience, painting and digital technologies, as well as his keen interest in socially significant, historical and philosophical, urgent themes.
Konstantin Khudyakov’s new and extraordinary works - pictures with ADDED REALITY “The Scarlet Flower” and “Van Gogh’s Ear” (2014, canvas, ultra-chrome-print 1/5, 65x85) have been created with the use of new technologies: personal electronic devices (i-pads, smart phones). The viewer has a rare opportunity to sink into the picture, to enter its space as the picture obtains absolutely new hitherto impossible qualities. These works have been executed by Konstantin Khudyakov in partnership with Andrey Galkin and the group Bright Life AR.
