Albina Akritas. Hellenic Heart. Russian Soul: Solo Show of Albina Akritas at the Embassy of Cyprus in Moscow

April 22 – April 28, 2015
The Residence of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Moscow
9 Povarskaya street, Moscow

Organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Moscow, Greek Cultural Center in Moscow and the Russian Academy of Arts the exhibition “Albina Akritas. Hellenic Heart. Russian Soul” features works by the People’s Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, member of the Russian-Greek Artists’ Union, Member of the Russian Writers’ Union Albina Akritas.

Albina Akritas, Greek by her origin, was born and became an artist in Russia. In her works she combines the two great cultures: her Greek origin has given her a bright temperament, boundless creative energy and optimism and the Russian World educated her in the traditions of its great culture, deep sensitivity and supreme human values.

The exposition includes the best pieces from the artist’s Greek and Russian cycles. In her picture “The Gamblers” Pushkin is playing cards with Anna Akhmatova and Faina Ranevskaya, opposite is a dialogue between “Diogenes and Aristotels”;  the mystic “Antic Dance” of maenads is next to the Russian classics in the “Evening in Trigorskoye”. Myth and reality, millenniums of history, Hellas and Russia organically exist in the artist’s heart. The solo show of Albina Akritas is a contribution to the strengthening of cultural bridges uniting the two great worlds – Hellenic and Russian.
