The Russian Academy of Arts presents a solo show of the Honored Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Nikita Fomin featuring over 50 paintings produced by the artist in various years.

Nikita Fomin was born in 1949 in Leningrad in the family of a noted painter, master of a lyrical landscape Peter T. Fomin. In 1973 he graduated fr om I. Repin St. Petersburg State Academy Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture  where he majored in monumental painting under Academician Andrey Mylnikov. At present Nikita Fomin is a Professor of I. Repin Institute. Since 1972 he has been a participant of more than 200 exhibitions in Russia and other countries.

In partnership with artists S. Repin, V. Sukhov, I. Uralov he has created mosaics and wall paintings for public buildings in Petersburg and other cities in Russia and abroad, such as the Russian National Library, subway stations, hotels, the monument to the heroic defenders of Leningrad, memorial to the fallen soldiers in Zelenodolsk, etc. Nikita Fomin has been actively in the rebirth of the wall paintings in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow as well as several St. Petersburg cathedrals.  

Being in a constant creative search the artist tries to express his understanding and vision of the surrounding world. No matter wh ere he creates his works – in St. Petersburg, Paris, Pskov, Venice or Rome, he remains a St. Petersburg artist in the meaning of high professional craftsmanship and in-depth comprehension of   predecessors’ art culture. His ability to combine the achievements of various art schools while preserving his individuality and today’s world view is one of the artist’s characteristic features.

The exhibition is a good opportunity to see the whole range of the artist’s multi-sided talent including his canvases, cityscapes, landscapes, still lives executed in Russia and during his trips to Italy, France, Germany and other countries.
