The Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts (17 University Embankment, St. Petersburg) presents an exhibition of works from the collection of the Academy’s Research Museum and Research Library dedicated to the 250th Anniversary of the Statute of the Imperial Academy of Arts.

On display are paintings, sculptures, engravings, manuscripts, books, works of decorative art. In addition to the original of the Statute signed by Catherine the Great in 1764 and its original case of major interest are portraits of the young Empress, the Grand Duke Pavel Petrovich and his tutor Count N.I. Panin, as well as the Academy’s President I.I. Betskoi, portraits of K.G. Razumovsky, P.A. Rumyantsev, A.V. Olsuphiev, G.G. Orlov, I.G. Chernyshev and the Academy’s inauguration award medal of 1765. The book section includes printed copies of the  Statute in Russian and French that were sent to European Academies of Fine Arts, Metropolitan Platon’s sermon delivered by him at the Academy’s inauguration ceremony on July 7, 1765, which at once became a bibliographical rarity.
